LaRouche's Movement Intervention into FAO Summit Builds Groundswell for "Killing the WTO"
The continuing positive response from
delegates to the FAO Food Summit to EIR and Schiller
Institute organizers indicates the potential for escalated organizing coming out of
the Conference. EIR's numerous interventions at press conference
and panels are clearly having an impact, and creating an
athmosphere in which the real concerns of the delegates can
surface.
As one high level FAO offical from the US told an organizer:
"You guys have some real good questions in there; you have more
reporters here than the New York Times!"
The official Egyptian television station broadcast an
interview with EIR's Hussein Askary, in Rome, on the last day of
the summit, happy to hear him slam the WTO.
Organizers reported picking up a lot of disappointment at
the summit's failure to take action, at a panel on Civil Society
from NGO reps. One outspoken representative from a Ibero-Amerian
Nation told the Assembly; "we must call it by its name: a crime
against humanity.
